Hi! My name’s Gabrielle. *glances at the long account of how she became a writer*

*Hands you a cup of tea* This may take a while, but we might as well get started. I began writing fiction about four years back. My first attempt at a novel was called Wings and for all accounts and purposes, shouldn’t count. I had no earthly idea what storytelling was and didn’t make it far. I wrote on and off, playing with writing like the winter wind plays with snowflakes that melt as soon as they touch the ground.

*picks up her own cup of tea and takes a sip* The story truly started after a good friend spoiled a book.

This friend of mine finished a fantasy story by an author I’d never heard of. After she ranted about the book (and spoiling the ending), I looked it up.  The novel led me to the author, and that author led me to her website, Helping Writers Become Authors.

I started reading her articles.

That was when the true storyteller was born.

Those posts thrilled me. I realized there was a method to the madness of writing. My first attempts at plotting a book were clumsy, lopsided, and naive, but I kept going. Day by day, month by month, year by year, I wrote on. Four and a half novels, over a dozen articles, and loads of critiques later, I’m still pursuing my craft as passionately as the day I first found it (but with a little more wisdom, I hope).

I became a staff writer at the greatest writing website in the world, Story Embers. I’ve published over seventy blog across on various sites, served a term as a guildmaster, and am far from stopping. I’m working on my best book yet, Ridgeline, and hope to pitch it next July.

That’s how I became a slightly notebook-obsessed, character-crazy, pen-toting writer. Where this journey will take me, I don’t know, but I do know that I want to infuse my fiction with words of honesty, victory, and hope that will glorify my Lord God and grip readers from the first page to the last. And maybe, just maybe, I can share a bit of the love I have for writing with you guys.

Thanks for stopping by!  I hope you enjoy the rest of the site. 🙂
